Christopher Morel's history is a highlight of bad Cubs road trip PHILADELPHIA — Outside of the performance of a promising second-year player, it was another lost road trip for the Cubs. A 2-1 loss to the Phillies on Sunday finished off a 2-7 road trip for the club as they now fall a season-high six games under .500 (20-26). In his first 11 games of the 2023 season, the outfielder has hit eight home runs in 46 at-bats. According to the Cubs, he's the first in franchise history to pull off the feat, with those statistics going back to 1901. Morel also has three doubles and 14 since he was called up from Triple-A on May 8. A surprise omission from the Opening Day roster for some, the outfielder had a strong 29 games with the Iowa Cubs, hitting .330 with nine doubles, 11 homers, and 31 RBI. Signed as an inter...

St. Paul City Council to host Summit Avenue bike trail hearing on Wednesday The St. Paul City Council will host a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on a resolution to support a proposed regional bikeway that would travel along nearly five miles of Summit Avenue, a popular parkway-like corridor that traverses multiple historic districts and the governor’s residence. The prospect of an elevated bike trail protected by curb or parking has drawn strong feeling up and down the mansion-lined corridor and beyond. Opponents have pointed to the possibility of heavy tree loss, parking loss and a change in the historic character of the avenue, the longest residential stretch of Victorian mansions in the nation.City officials have sought to convince residents that a badly-needed street reconstruction will impact trees either way, and adding bike amenities won’t make considerable difference. They’ve said an all-ages bike trail will invite new users, help calm traffic and create a better environment for pedestrians, while reducing transportation-base...
