A brush fire grew to as many as 15 acres before firefighters were able to stop its forward spread in Moreno Valley on Friday.The Lantz Fire broke out at Lantz Lane and Ironwood Avenue at about 10 a.m., and it was burning "light flashy fuels," the Riverside County Fire Department said on Twitter.By 11:20 a.m., it had grown to 15 acres and was continuing to spread at a moderate pace, though by noon, officials said they'd mapped its size at 12 acres after forward progress was stopped.All evacuations were lifted after noon.Excessive heat warnings issued for certain areas of Los Angeles County

Jorrell Yazzie Arrested after Fatal DUI Incident near Ray RoadCHANDLER, AZ (June 30, 2023) – Early Monday morning, officers were dispatched to a deadly DUI incident that claimed the life of Chon Tran.The incident occurred on May 29th, just before 1:30 a.m., near the intersection of Dobson Road and Ray Road.According to authorities, a 2014 Dodge Avenger driven by 29-year-old Jorrell Yazzie, a Chevrolet Camaro driven by 43-year-old Maurice Owens, and a Toyota Camry driven by 68-year-old Chon Tran were involved in the collision.Upon investigation, the officers reported that Yazzie, in the Chevrolet, was traveling northbound when he rear-ended Owens, in the Camaro. The collision caused the Chevrolet to veer to the southbound lanes and struck Tran, in the Camry.As a result, Owens suffered multiple broken bones and cuts. SAN JOSE — Police announced Friday that they had arrested two people and seized some 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, along with drugs and cash, as part of an investigation into a June 14 fire that caused major damage at a Public Storage facility.In a news release, San Jose police said that they had arrested Anthony Dasilva, 45, and Nathaniel Valassis, 25, both of San Jose, on Thursday.
