Nuggets coach Michael Malone treated Tuesday’s practice like his team was trailing 1-0 in their first-round playoff matchup against Minnesota and not the other way around.Ahead of Wednesday’s Game 2, where the Nuggets will attempt to seize a 2-0 series lead, Malone had no appetite for resting on the 29-point pounding his team handed down against the Timberwolves.“We haven’t done a (darn) thing,” Malone said. “… This wasn’t a film session, like, ‘look how great we are.’”Before honing in on specific areas to address with his team, Malone said he pored over game film from the opener three separate times. His conclusion: Game 2 will be markedly different.“When you lose by 29, we all know what’s about to happen,” Malone said pointedly. The last thing he wanted his team thinking was that Nikola Jokic had solved Minnesota’s frontcourt, or that they’d shoot over 40% from 3-point range again. Malone said his job was to hold his team accountable and ensure they stayed humble despite Sund...

Destroy Boys Live Up to Their Name at Coachella: Sacramento indie punks Destroy Boys rocked the Sonora Stage on Saturday at Coachella Weekend One, and we caught up with guitarist Violet Mayugba shortly afterwards…How did the first set go?Oh my god, it was amazing. It was so cool. It was very overwhelming because we don’t have a lot of festival experience. But it was so cool. Everyone treated us so well. The crowd was awesome. It was just, overall, super fun. Had you been to Coachella before? No, never.Have you played any outdoor festivals?Yeah, we’d done Riot Fest before – that’s the biggest one we’ve ever done. We’ve done quite a few smaller ones. We did Sad Summer Fest for a little bit. But Coachella is “the one.” I’ve been telling a lot of people, when I was a little kid Coachella was the pinnacle of success for bands in my eyes. So the fact that we’re doing it now, and the fact that we get to do it twice, is really awesome. There wasn’t a lot of punk rock there t...

He cut off third baseman J.D. Davis, fielded the ball and fired to first in time to record the out, but afterward began to grab at his upper right leg.Alex Wood came out of the game af...

Read more Letters to the Editor.Dredging deeperthreatens bay ecologyRe: “Future of bay dredging appears as clear as mud” (Page A1, April 10).Thanks for surfacing the issues of dredging in the San Francisco Bay and highlighting the Port of Oakland’s intention to widen and deepen its turning basins to accommodate larger cargo ships. We strongly caution the Port of Oakland against this course of action for two reasons:1. Due to their size and weight, mega-ships are fueled by heavily polluting fossil fuels. These fuels emit air quality pollutants that harm human health and add greenhouse gas emissions that disrupt our climate.2. Excessive dredging for channel and basin widening and deepening will irreversibly disturb marine and coastal ecosystems, threaten wildlife and impact the bay’s water quality.Ports must prioritize development for industry decarbonization — including electrification and zero-emission fuel bunkering for shi...
